Steve Reichard got his start in the produce business as a kid, picking his own strawberries and selling them door to door. That eventually led to a summertime produce stand.
Reichard continued the business after college and these days it has grown into something Reichard could never have imagined.

S & S Produce & Crab House opened in 1974 in Red Lion, PA. It is the oldest and only full-time crab shop in York County because as Steve Reichard puts it, "We do this for a living, not a hobby." The S & S Produce & Crab House team works the entire East Coast crab market. As the temperatures get cooler, S & S Produce & Crab House buys crabs farther south, from Maryland all the way to Louisiana.
The mom-and-pop shop is much more than a crab house. While the S & S Produce & Crab House team takes custom orders for hard shell crabs year round, it also specializes in a variety of seafood including Texas Gulf shrimp, soft shell crabs, lobster tails, clams, fresh crab meats, oysters, scallops and fishes. S & S Produce & Crab House is the ultimate general store. Aside from seafood, patrons regularly visit our store for general groceries, propane, cigarettes and ice-cold beer to go. S & S Produce & Crab House carries over 300 kinds of beer including over 100 varieties of craft beers.
"We're not fancy, but we're efficient," says Reichard. He cites his dedicated staff for the store's success. "Without them, you're nothing," he says. "We have a great staff of employees."
